Featuring an all aluminum 3.5, 24 valve V6 engine with VTEC combined wth a five speed electrical automatic transmission, producing 240 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque, this SUV can deliver power right when you need it.

The New Acura Four-Wheel Drive System

The all new electronic VTM, or variable-torque management, four-wheel drive system allows the transmission to automatically distribute torque to all four wheels. An advantage to this is that the system allows superior performance in practically all weather positions. This new system is exclusive, which makes the MDX a leader in all-terrain performance, whether it be from wet, icy, muddy, or even rocky terrain.

The VTM system automatically engages when the vehicle begins to accelerate. This is different than most four-wheel drive systems, common four-wheel drive systems typically only react when the wheels slip, which gives this vehicle the edge over off-road performance. Another advantage of the VTM system is that when the wheels aren’t slipping, the system automatically allocate torque to the front of the vehicle, turning it into a front-wheel drive for better fuel economy.

Included with all of these features offered by the VTM system is a “lock” setting, which allows torque to be distributed solely to the rear tires for superior traction in difficult off-road situations.

MDX models are ULEV, or  “Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicles“, which sets the MDX as one of the cleanest and efficient SUV model vehicles in the market.

The MDX is more than capable of handling even the worst of weather conditions on and off the road. Coming with the smallest turn radius of any vehicle in it’s class, the SUV is more than simple to maneuver in practically any location.

With four-wheel independent suspension and disk braking system, and a custom designed P235/65R-17 all-weather tires allow the vehicle to perform to it’s best, with a perfect balance of performance and all weather capability.

The Acura MDX’s interior allows a great amount of flexibility and user-convenience allowing greate storage capability, along with the ability to support up to 7 passengers. A wide variety of large objects are capable of being stored in the SUV’s cargo space, such lawn chairs and equipment, and even a 6 foot ladder! A flat style floor design allows level storage, and make it easier on vehicle passengers for roomy-comfort, along with excellent storage.

Safety That Is Second To None

The Acura MDX was designed to target the areas requiring the highest levels of safety for passengers. Limiltless amounts of crash-testing allows the vehicle to have a 5 star crash-safety rating for safety and performance in both side and front accidents. Safety features for the MDX include dual front-airbags which adjust deployment force based one impact severity, an energy-absorbent structure, and side-impact structural beams for added safety.

Another safety feature includes the design of the rear bumper, which is capable of withstanding a 35 mph impact without any harm to those in the third row of seats.
